Nestled in the heart of Norfolk, Tickners Trailers has become a cornerstone of British craftsmanship in the trailer industry. Since its establishment in 2005, this family-operated beacon of bespoke trailering has steadfastly grown into a name synonymous with reliability and quality. Renowned for their exceptional lightweight box trailers, Tickners Trailers has garnered a loyal following from camping enthusiasts to go-karters, motorcyclists, event organisers, and even professionals in light removals and driving instruction.
Tickners Trailers, despite their trusted reputation in the trailer manufacturing sphere, faced a significant online hurdle. Their existing website, powered by an outdated WordPress framework, had fallen behind the times. The lack of maintenance had turned necessary updates into a formidable challenge, with core functionalities and plugin integrations teetering on the edge of obsolescence.
Compounded by a theme that was asset-heavy, the website's performance was bogged down, leading to sluggish loading times and a subpar user experience. The front-end interface, which serves as the digital face of their business, failed to match the user-friendly excellence that their physical products boasted. This digital dissonance needed addressing to ensure their online presence was as robust and reliable as their trailers.
At Chaos, we recognised the need for a ground-up digital renovation to propel Tickners Trailers into the modern web era. Our strategy was twofold: enhance functionality while elevating user experience. We initiated the transformation by constructing a bespoke website using Oxygen Builder, a tool known for its flexibility and lightweight output, ensuring a quick-loading website that performs as efficiently as Tickners' own trailers.
Understanding the importance of showcasing their impressive range, we engineered a custom post type specifically for their trailers. This allowed for a streamlined process, where each trailer could shine with detailed information and imagery, easily updatable by the Tickners team. Similarly, we developed another custom post type for their extensive dealer network, enabling potential customers to connect with dealers effortlessly.
Our design ethos was 'mobile-first', recognising that the majority of users now interact with content on the go. We ensured that the new site's design was not only responsive but also intuitive, providing a seamless experience across all devices.
Additionally, we introduced a customised admin panel, branded to reflect Tickners Trailers’ identity, which simplifies website management and echoes the quality of their brand.
To round off our comprehensive strategy, we implemented a robust 301 redirect plan, guaranteeing that the transition to the new website would retain the SEO equity of the old site and provide visitors with a seamless browsing experience, with no dead ends or lost trails.

Post-launch, the new website has seen a dramatic performance uptick, with page loading speeds increasing by an impressive 70%, ensuring that potential customers experience the efficiency that Tickners embodies, right from their first click.
